Museums - pub - history
York was busy for the tourist side of the trip. We visited York Minster, York Castle Museum and Yorvik Viking Centre, as well as walked part of the York walls, and through the Shambles.
Food wise, we visited a PIzza Hut buffet - they still exist in UK but not in Australia so it was a nostalgia hit for us with the kids wondering why we were excited to take them.

Poisonous plants - walled gardens
Finally made it to Alnwick Gardens! I have been wanting to visit the poisons gardens for 20 years after reading an article about it. It did not disappoint! The 30min tour was interesting, we found out the worse stinging plant in the world is Australian (not just our animals that like to kill you apparently!). Our Wings of Fire obsessed daughter was excited as some of the dragons are named after the plants in the garden so she nerded it up with the staff who seemed vey excited there was someone as interested as they were and went out of their way to answer all her questions.

Museum - animals
We stayed in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne for 2 nights and visited Beamish - The Living Museum of the North. It was a fun day out - we rode in old school trams (they also had old school buses looping through the museum). We saw farms from the 1800’s and 1940’s, a pit village form the coal mining era, a 1900’s main street as well as a 1950’s street.
